Though not a “contact” offence, accessing, possessing, sharing or creating child pornography is a serious crime with penalties that reflect the recognized harm to children. Child pornography or child sexual abuse and exploitation material covers not only actual sexual images or videos depicting persons who are or who are depicted as being under 18, but also drawings, animation or AI created images or videos of such materials. It also includes written materials or audio recordings that describe or counsel unlawful sexual activity with underage parties.
