It creates enhanced protections for young people, such as publication bans and strict requirements on the taking of statements by police. Most notably, the Youth Criminal Justice Act, dictates a specialized approach to the sentencing of young people that aims to focus on imposing meaningful consequences that promote rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
